What's Your Favorite Fairytale?

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

Azalea is trapped. Just when she should feel that everything is before her . . . beautiful gowns, dashing suitors, balls filled with dancing . . . it's taken away. All of it.

The Keeper understands. He's trapped, too, held for centuries within the walls of the palace. And so he extends an invitation.

Every night, Azalea and her eleven sisters may step through the enchanted passage in their room to dance in his silver forest.

But there is a cost.

The Keeper likes to keep things.

Azalea may not realize how tangled she is in his web until it is too late. (summary from goodreads)

Does anyone remember the fairytale, The Twelve Dancing Princesses? Growing up, it was one of my favorites.

I can remember when Nickolodeon would have a cartoon fairytale show on everyday at 12:00 when I was a kid and I would stop whatever I was doing to watch it. The Twelve Dancing Princesses was one of the fairytales on that show.

So I'm sure you can imagine how excited I was when I found out about Entwined by: Heather Dixon which is a re-imagining of that fairytale.

I'll DEFINITELY be buying this book! You guys should check it out!

Cheers!

  1. Thanks for turning us onto this book. The darker the fairytale the more I like it.

  1. I'm rather partial to The Ordinary Princess.

Ooo, I have this book, but so many Life things keep getting in the way that I can't seem to get to it.

As for my favorite fairy tale, I don't really have one. I like too many to pick just one. :)

Hansel And Gretel has always been my favorite. The girl saves the day.

  1. I've always been partial to Beauty & the Beast. Maybe it's because that instead of the boy saving the girl, the girl is able to transform the boy with her love. *le sigh*

I loved Cinderella - she gets prince Charming in the end. And who wouldn't want a Fairy Godmother thrown into the bargain?
