He's So Beastly...

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

Now, I have to admit, I saw the movie trailer for this week's book of the week before I actually found out it was a book.

Like I said before, I'm a huge, HUGE fan of re-tellings, so this book immeadiatly caught my attention. Not to mention Alex Pettyfer(also from I am number four) is staring in it.

And this book doesn't strictly strike a chord with me just because it's a re-telling. I'm a firm believer in the phrase: You should NEVER judge a book by it's cover. In a world that's so obsessed with image, I think it's good for people to read a book with the underlying message of image isn't everything. Because in all reality, despite what we see in the media, it's not.

So readers of this blog... I'm proud to present... The book of the week... Beastly by: Alex Flinn

I am a beast.

A beast!

Not quite wolf or bear, gorilla or dog but a horrible new creature who walks upright. I am a monster.
You think I'm talking fairy tales? No way. The place is New York City. The time is now. It's no deformity, no disease. And I'll,stay this way forever—ruined—unless I can break the spell.

Yes, the spell, the one the witch in my English class cast on me. Why did she turn me into a beast who hides by day and prowls by night? I'll tell you. I'll tell you how I used to be Kyle Kingsbury, the guy you wished you were, with money, perfect looks, and the perfect life. And then, I'll tell you how I became perfectly . . . beastly.(Summary from Goodreads)

Check this book out!

Cheers!

I read this book last year and found it very entertaining. I just finished Flinn's latest book, Cloaked, which is coming out Feb 8th. Her stories are great fun. :)

  1. this was a great read -- and the author is lovely. I met her at an SCBWI conference in Miami. Looking forward to the movie.

I'm extremely excited to read this! I love the storyline and of course, beauty and the beast is one of my favorite fairytales.

I have the book on my TBR list and then I saw the trailer and said, crap, I really want to read it before I watch it. I can't wait because the trailer had me excited to read it even more.
